Books arrived
Today in the morning I received four books : Harrington II and III, Ace on River, and the new Sklansky book. I spend some time today reading Ace on River and managed to read the whole thing, really interesting book. He does not discuss bland boring stuff that we all already know but focuses more on other aspects of the game no one talks about. Things like poker-lyfestyle, pschycology, mental awareness, how long to play, game selection etc... Really good read for any intermediate+ player.
This book really gives me a new found respect for Greenstein and other proffesional players. You do not know how much of an ameteur you are untill you compare yourself with one of these poker "giants". Really great stuff.
I was realy exepecting to put in some heavy hours today but I was really looking forward to checking this book out, the other three I will eventually read but not immiediatley. In fact I'm least looking forward to reading Sklansky, it's the equivalanent of reading an encyclopedia. I think I said I will play this week preety hard unless some kind of distraction presents itself and it has, but I didn't order anything else so I don't see anything distracting me from tomorrow to the end of the week, so starting tomorrow I will get back into the groove.

Can you post a timeline of your poker career? I always find those interesting.
Okay, when I have some time I will post one up.
Hey, TT. I just ordered HoH3 & Sklansky's NLHE T&P as well. I already have HoH2.
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on those books.
What other books have you read, and what did you think of them?
The other books I've read are HoH1, ToP, SS, and Phil Gordon's Little Green Book.
PS. nice blog - keep it up!
Crypt I actually own every single NL book that's out there except SS2 because I already have SS1 and I heard it's almost the same thing. The best book I've read regarding the technical aspects of poker was Harrington on Holdem 1. Regarding every other aspect of poker I'd say Greenstein's book is best.
That's an impressive collection.
Pulling just one or two new things out of a book definitely pays off in the longrun. I've fashioned my poker after HoH1, but I only play cash games.
I'm really hoping Sklansky's new book will augment anything I'm missing.
Greets to the webmaster of this wonderful site! Keep up the good work. Thanks.
