Good day
Well yesturday I was cold decked so naturally to balance that out I should have a killer day today no? Today I played ~1500 hands +$4382 preety good results. I'm happy with the way I played just about every hand except one, I called all in preflop with AKo for 150bb's... I had my reasons but I'm not sure if this was correct felt really marginal he ended up having KK and I failed to improve $1800 pot :/ Everything else is running smoothly I'm slowly perfecting my hypo-aggresive style I still make a lot of bad plays and have leaks to correct. I think I will continue to play 3/6 for the remainder of the month even though I currently have the bankroll for 5/10 but I'm making good money at these stakes + I feel I have a lot of work to do on my game. Besides 2-5k a day is not bad anyway. I'm not complaning I just try to aim very high never limiting myself.
There are other players who do move up stakes very fast using 20 buy in rule or something close to that. I do not do this, I think my slow route (100+ buy ins) is more safe and it enables me to collect a lot of usefull experience along the way. Had I moved to 5/10 playing tight-aggresive I would probably have never discovered this hypo-aggresive style and I would be winning marginally and be stressed out grinding against other tight players. Amazingly enough I'm still maintaining a double digit ptbb/100 which is good :) If I can do this for a sample size of 50k+ hands I think that would be one hell of an accomplishment.
A couple of hands from today's session:

I been checking this blog for about 2 weeks now tom. I am very surprised by the way you play and more surprised by the profits you make. In general, I see you raising preflop with the most rediculous hands such as 3,6 , 5,9, 4,8, etc etc. While every hand that you post of this you hit a straight or flush, or fh, I am curious how often you do this and end up folding on the flop because nothing hits. Is this common? And if so, do you do this to add to your character as a loose player?
Besides the primo hands then, what makes you play the 3,6 , or 5,4 or something really marginal? Is it just position in a 9 person table or the ppl you are playin?
Anyways, you are a very good player I hope to get some insight from you.
Tom by "hypo-aggressive" you do mean "hyper-aggressive" right? Because hypo aggressive would mean under aggressive. :P
Anonymous - I rather get 54s UTG as opposed to something like AJs the risk reward is just much better. These small hands are good post-flop because they are almost never dominated and I will hardler ever lose a big pot if I only flop a pair. I'm either looking to pick up an uncontested pot and if that does not happen I'm looking to improve and hopefully break someone.
Interesting website with a lot of resources and detailed explanations.
